Grade 1 Listed
13th Century Castle
A Medieval Castle set in the rolling countryside of Northumberland, Ford Castle is now a residential activity centre for school and youth groups.
The grade I Ford Castle on the Ford & Etal estate played a significant role in English national defence during the 14th and 15th centuries. It was captured by James IV of Scotland on the eve of the Battle of Flodden in 1513. In the 19th century it was the home of artist Lady Waterford, who began building the model village of Ford to the east of the castle.
THS were contacted in 2014 to support the crucial building restorations needed to update this incredible historical property. Now the maintenance issues and water damage have been resolved the property is watertight and has been removed from the At Risk Register.
